When it comes to styling, people with fine hair can find it a struggle, it’s either too fly away, static or flat. This is because Fine hair has approximately 1/3 less diameter then normal hair, which makes it appear to be limp shortly after washing. Normal hair has an average thickness of approximately 0.08mm; fine hair only has about 0.05mm. If you find that your hairstyle quickly collapses and loses body after shampooing then you probably have fine hair. Another way of recognising fine hair is that it can quickly become limp and tends to be sensitive; it becomes statically charged quite often and has a low resistance to chemical treatments.

Many people with fine hair tend to not use a conditioner as it makes the hair too soft and heavy. However a conditioner should be put through the mid-lengths and ends to ensure the cuticle is closed and lying smooth, otherwise the cuticle is raised causing the hair to become static. Sometimes if a conditioner is applied at the root it can make the hair limp and become greasy quickly.

Fine hair, when undergone a colour or perm absolutely needs conditioning to keep the hair hydrated and looking healthy. A leave in conditioner can really benefit the hair, making it shinier and smoother looking for longer. The Moroccanoil Light has been designed for fine hair and blonde tones. It is exactly the same as the Moroccanoil itself except that the ingredient build up of it is almost halved meaning that it is not as heavy when applied into the hair. We have noticed that 1 in 6 people will prefer to use the Moroccanoil light for their fine hair.

Just like the Moroccanoil itself, the same ingredients (like Argan oil) are included to help strengthen the hair, add shine and smooth out split ends. If your hair is predominantly blonde it will also benefit from the Moroccanoil light, when applied into the hair it will fill in any gaps along the cuticle for the light to reflect off to create shine.

Besides products many other factors can contribute to make the hair feel and look fuller. Although not many people think it, having the hair cut shorter will make it look thicker, even having some short over-extended layers can help achieve volume. If you like to colour your hair putting more than one tone through it will enhance the layers and make your hair look like it has much more texture.

Salon professional volumising products should be used in the hair when it is wet to give extra height at the roots and raise the cuticle so the hair looks fuller.
