Coloured Hair - Identifying a Greasy Scalp

Are you suffering with an oily, greasy scalp even with daily shampooing? Coloured hair that fades due to daily shampooing because of a greasy scalp?
There can be many things that cause a greasy scalp, for example poor nutrition, hormone imbalances and even stress. The sebaceous glands in your scalp are what produce sebum (grease), however they can become over active, causing more sebum to flow leaving the scalp greasy most of the time.
It’s hard to manage a greasy/oily scalp and still keep your hair looking in a healthy condition; a hair treatment that will clear the scalp from excess oil can dry the ends of the hair out making them look dull and lifeless.
If the hair is coloured, the use of these products can cause the colour to fade quickly. It is important to find hair care products that can treat the whole hair, for example, in order to keep the scalp ‘grease free,’ a shampoo that absorbs the surplus grease without irritating the skin or stimulating the sebaceous glands is very important. Massage this shampoo into the scalp and leave on for 2 minutes to eliminate all greasy residues on hair and scalp. Coloured hair needs to be protected in order to maintain the hair colour. There are 3 dimensions of human hair colour in terms of colour changing; these are colour fading, colour shifting and colour freshness.
Colour fading is where the hair appears washed out or transparent in comparison to the original colour. Colour shifting, describes the tonal changes of coloured hair i.e. a natural brown that shifts to a reddish or greenish brown and colour freshness that retains the vividness of your original colour.
Choose a colour saving conditioner with a combination of Keratin Oil, Argan Oil, Beeswax, Olive Leaf and UV light protectors to lock in colour pigments and moisture inside the hair and protect against further damage. Make sure the conditioner is kept off the scalp and just focused through the mid-lengths and ends, a leave in conditioner can add extra protection for your colour and more hydration to keep your hair looking its best.
