The Best Of The Oscars

Hair Products - posted by Hair 1 Direct Team on February 27th, 20121 Comment »

So the 84th Academy Awards kicked off last night and we were intrigued as always to see what everyone wore and of course what our favourite celebrities hair ‘do’s’ looked like. The biggest two trends that we noticed were short blonde bobs to shiny brunette ponytails and high buns.

The short 50s style crop worn by Michelle Williams stood out very well along with Cameron Diaz sporting a new short fresh coloured platinum bob, which we believe is very in at the moment. Anna Farris stepped out with a new do as she has gone for a change aswell with a straight short blonde style. These choppy bobs can accommodate many styles as the hair can be worn straight to show off different textures or slightly tousled with straighteners to create more body  and movement…

Although the blondes stood out more, the long hair silky brunettes still had their moments to shine on the red carpet with most of them wearing their hair in a tight ponytail or high bun. Top knot and ballerina buns have been in fashion since last summer but yesterday Jennifer Lopez and Tina Fey both pulled out the top bun but in a very elegant style. These buns (previously known as the Adele bun) are so popular now that you can buy them already made and attach them to your hair. Sleek ponytails are still very popular and Sandra Bullock’s long dark brown hair looked great swept up with her low back dress…

David Beckhams Advert

As we all know David Beckham is doing very well at the moment; our sports ambassador who is now leading the campaign for the World Cup 2018, has been seen on social outings with the Princes and (by looking at recent pictures) raising 4 very good looking children!

The latest on Mr Beckham is his massive bag that is sat next to Tower Bridge in London for his H&M men’s range which looks amazing! Once again his hair has changed, to create his style start by combing your hair in a side parting, then use the comb to blow dry the front up keeping it smooth. Then use a strong wax like Sebastian Craft Clay, distribute it through your hands and direct the hair up at the front so it is slightly quiffed and smooth the sides down. Finish with hairspray for extra hold.

David Beckham has always been a big male influence for his stylish fashion and risky haircuts that have always brought him a huge following in the media world and after 15 years of following him and the rest of the Beckhams we are still enjoying his work:

Celebrity Fringes- A must have!

Hair Products - posted by Hair 1 Direct Team on January 31st, 2012No Comments »

We have been noticing that many of our favourite celebrities are making the decision to go for the chop and add a fringe!

Fringes can be good for a number of reason; if you love having long hair and fancy a change without loosing length adding a subtle side fringe like Pixie Lott or add a heavy straight finge like Daisy Lowe and Florence Welch can change your look completely..

They can also be good for hiding fine areas of hair that many women do have especially around their hair line, most of which is baby hair that has never grown.

Some women have complexes about their hair lines, having high foreheads and frownlines; fringes are great for covering these little flaws that we only really notice on ourselves.

Here are our best picked fringes from these celebrities:

2012 Bridal Hair Put Ups

Hair Products - posted by Hair 1 Direct Team on January 26th, 20121 Comment »

After last weeks bridal beauty checklist were are going one step further in a bid to inspire all you future brides on the perfect put up.

Half up/ half down hairstyles are always a modern sexy look for weddings. This sophisticated updo is a favourite. This style is great for all types of hair, layered, one length, brunettes, blondes and redheads and looks fabulous with most dress cuts. Here’s how to get the look…

Firstly, spray some ‘GHD Curl Spray’ into the hair, section of the hair about 2 inches per section and curl each section of hair. Spray with a light hairspray. Next, back comb hair in small sections from the crown area, hairspray each section and when finished brush back into the height you require and hairspray.  After that, bring back a section of hair from the side and pin into the crown area, repeat for the other side. Apply one or two pumps of ‘GHD Smooth and Finish Serum’ into your hands, massage into the hands and using your fingers glide through the curls to define and add shine to them. Finally, spritz ‘GHD Final Fix Hairspray’ all over the finished up do.

A low-do style is great for all types of hair. But especially long layers, naturally straight medium length hair. Here’s how to get this look…

Backcomb at crown in sections and hairspray then brush back into place. Next leaving your fringe out for a secure hair do, separate the hair at the back into two and pop into 2 ponytails. Take a quarter section each time of the ponytail and loop around finger and pin into place, do this with the ponytail until there is no hair left. But spread out the barrel curls in different direction to hide the bauble and clips then do same on other ponytail. If there is any hair left out (depending on how much) loop around finger in different size sections and pin into the hair. Finally, put fringe into place whether it’s the side or a full fringe and place any wanted accessories into the hair.

How gorgeous is this this sophisticated Pin Curl Up Do? It’s great for medium length and suits any hair colour.

Roughly blow-dry the hair (if your hair is frizzy section the hair into big sections and pop the straighteners through with a soft bend). Back comb from the crown upwards to add height to the top section then gently brush out to smooth the hair back down. Ladies with a fringe it would be best to sweep it to the side but leave it out for now. Next, grab a medium to large section and loop the hair loosely around the finger, lay flat to the head and pin into the hair, continue to do this with the rest of the hair. Finally sweep the fringe to the side and hairspray for a secure and fabulous up-do.

Check out this elegantly feminine Pretty plait up do which is ideal for medium to long hair.

To re – create the look, curl all the hair section by section about 1.5 inches per section. Next, french plait the hair from the middle to the side your head until you get to the crown area and secure into place either with pins or a hair bauble. Put a styling serum into the hands and rub together and then tease the rest of the curls into place. Finally, attach your accessories into the hair and hairspray into place.
