What to look for when choosing your Hair Colour
Coloured hair is becoming a bigger part of our day to day lives. Fashion is constantly changing, celebrity trends influence us and it is easy to change your hair colour on a regular basis. Whether you just maintain your colour or you like to try something new and different, making sure you make the right choice when it comes to the colour and shade of your hair colour is very important. When you come to selecting your hair colour there are a few important factors that you need to keep in mind, your stylist will also be able to advise you as to what colour to choose. You need to take into consideration your lifestyle, job, fashion and the type of make-up that you wear. Your hair colour needs to compliment all of these areas. If you are just after a subtle change it is best to look towards colours that are from a natural range that blends in with your natural hair tone. If you are after your hair colour being bold, striking and on trend with the current fashion, then this season, summer 2010, it is all about red shades. If this is something that you would love, you need to select a shade of red that will compliment your natural skin tone. Naturally our skins tends to blend with the colour of our hair and by dying your hair a colour that is a completely different tone and shade from your natural colour you are altering the balance. If you have a pale complexion it is best to not have your hair too dark as this can make you look even paler and washed out, warm mid-tones are best and will give you a rosy, bright look. The condition and porosity of your hair will also affect the outcome of your hair colour. If you have porous hair it will absorb the colour that is applied quickly, the porosity of your hair will also depend on your hairs condition. If the hairs cuticle is smooth it will absorb less of the colouring product and this can sometimes result in uneven colour. As well as making sure you choose a suitable hair colour for your skin tone and lifestyle, before you have a colour treatment you need to ensure that your hair is in good condition. If your hair is very damaged and brittle, subjecting it to any form of chemical process such as a colour will only make your hairs condition worse. Healthy hair always takes a colour process better and gives you a better final outcome. Back to Coloured Hair Advice Main Page |
